I love the process of choosing a color palette for each quilt that is unique and diverse and highlights the unique design of the quilt. I have a wide range of styles to choose from with everything from simple squares to bargello, traditional patterns, modern designs, and custom designs. Each quilt I make is a one-of-a-kind, with it’s own variations in fabric, color, and design.
Available products include:
Baby quilts – Ideal as a gift for a new baby and perfect for the cot or a play mat. Pram size patchwork quilts are also available.
Bed quilts – a lovely year-round addition to any room. Perfect for adding color and can be ‘themed’ for a child’s bedroom. The cotton fabrics and batting are an ideal weight for Australian winters. Bed quilts can be made in a variety of sizes to fit single, king single, double, queen or king-size beds.
Christmas patchwork – Why not add some Christmas patchwork to your home? I have a range of Christmas patchwork including quilts, table runners, and placemats in a variety of traditional and modern designs and colors.
Patchwork throws – These quilts are smaller than a bed quilt and ideal as a lap quilt to snuggle under while watching your favourite show. They’re also great to keep in the car for a travel quilt or picnic blanket. A perfect engagement or wedding present to treasure.
Patchwork napery – I have an extensive collection of table runners and placemats, to protect your table tops and add colour and style to your dining table. Being made with 100% cotton fabrics they are easy to wash and dry and will last through many years of family dinners.
The Design Process For Custom Handmade Quilts
The first question is “Who is the quilt for”? And secondly, “How will it be used”?
Quilts make ideal gifts for new babies, children moving into a ‘big bed’ from their crib, grandparents or even newly married couples. They can be used for crib blankets, are ideal play mats for ‘tummy time’, are handy to keep in the car for a picnic, and make great throws for those colder evenings.
Who the quilt is for will guide the choice of fabric in terms of the color and design. The range of fabrics available is extensive and coordinating fabrics can create bright, colorful quilts or more subdued tones can be used for something more subtle.
How the quilt will be used will affect the size of the finished quilt. From an everyday placemat size to large custom handmade quilts for beds and everything in between.
